Out and about in Colombia

We went quite a few places while we were in Colombia, but I didn’t take a lot of pictures. Here are some highlights.

Finlandia – the inspiration behind Encanto. We walked around town and looked at Encanto-land. We also went on a coffee tour. In which we wore ponchos, sombreros, and coffee baskets. We picked coffee while we walked around learning about the growing process. Then we got to see how they get the bean out and dry it. We then got a fresh roasted cup of coffee. One of the best cups of coffee ever.

Salento – We accidentally visited Salento on one of the biggest holidays of the year AND the first day of a 3 day music festival. We were planning on a tour from here, but changed our mind because the wait for a jeep was 2+ hours and traffic was crazy. The music festival hadn’t started, yet, but the traffic for it had.

ChinchinĂ¡ – home of the world’s largest coffee cup . . . or so they claim.

This is very common in Colombia . . . and crazy.

This guy is hanging on to the back of that bus hitching a ride to the top of the hill. This happens all over Colombia. It’s a thing here. We’ve seen them hitch on trucks, too. We passed this bus and when we started down the other side of this small pass, this bicycle rider went flying by us! Watch your speed, Casey Jones. He was coasting downhill, weaving in and out of traffic. It was wild!
